Training is hard!

Training is hard, no matter what you are training for.... A CrossFit competition, marathon, or whatever!!

As you know, we are training for our first marathon in November!  This past Sunday we ran 14 miles. This 14 miles was so hard for some reason. I have ran 13 miles before, back in September 2008 when I did my first half marathon.  We ran the first 7 miles on the Swamp Rabbit Trail non-stop. We got to 7 miles to turn around, stopped and stretched out a little and then headed back.  At mile 10 I was starting to feel it! My left hammie was tight, pulling on my IT band and knee!! It wasn't bad enough to stop, but mentally, it was making me want to stop. However, I pushed through!! Markus said if we don't get used to pushing through small minor pain now, when it comes time for the full marathon we won't finish!!   I didn't stop then, but I did at mile 13 for about 50 meters and walked some, but then started running again to the stop line at 14 miles!

"The Truth is that Running Hurts. No one gets faster without meeting their personal pain barrier straight on."
I learned something about myself that day... After all these years of CrossFit and now adding running to the mix - I always stopped when I felt pain or tiredness... But I learned in this run, that I, personally can push through the temporary pain to succeed and get to the finish!  Pain scares me and I didn't like being out of my comfort zone!!

Go out and do something that scares you! I know I will!
