Being held by the Father
When my heart gets too heavy I want to do anything but talk about it. I want to numb out, tap out, and lay down. But healing and being emotionally healthy requires motion. My next response is then to move too much. I throw myself into everything, stop for nothing, and burn out.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Yet the motion my heart needs is to be pulled toward my Father. I don't need to run or lay down, I need to be held in His arms.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

"...There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place. In spite of this, you did not trust in the Lord your God, who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go" (Deuteronomy 1:31-33, NIV).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Taking things a day at a time is one of the most irritatingly common suggestions for hard times. Yet there is a Biblical example of each day being separate from the next. Israelites in the wilderness were every day led by God (unchanging), but the food and provisions were different each day (changing). They literally couldn't store up the food provided by God, the manna wouldn't last longer than that day, yet each day new manna was never lacking.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This passage reminds me that we will make it because our Father is in control and preparing for each day. We try to prepare ourselves for anything and if we do so without trust we are lacking. We should prepare out of the trust that God has first taken care of us. We should take action out of the peace of who is holding us. We should focus on the daily provision of our Father and not stress He hasn't yet provided for next day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take the time to unburden your heart before God. Lay down the need to take care of it all. When you are frozen in fear or exhaustion let Him carry you. Fathers love to carry their children.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #ragnartennessee #covid_19 #crossfitgreer #faithoverfear #coronavírus #ragnarrelay #devotional #bestill #slowdown
